Started in 1994, The Osaka European Film Festival has made a name for itself for screening quality independent cinema from Europe.

Around 39,000 people flock to watch the films shown here, which deal with social trends and situations in various parts of Europe.

One of the most famous movies screened here includes “Off Screen, a psychological thriller based on a true incident in Holland in 2002.

Although the Osaka European Film Festival is a non- competitive festival, together with Osaka city partners, the Festival organizers decided to create three awards that would help attract the attention of the audience, media and Japanese film professionals on special works or artists that the Festival wished to promote.

The Osaka City Prize is awarded to a renowned film director or actor, for "life time achievement".

Osaka City Young Cinema Prize is awarded to a director for the visual or thematic quality of his latest work, which should not be more than his fourth film.

Hours: Vary.
