International Ladies' Marathon

The Osaka Marathon is firmly established as a women's race of international renown. The course starts at Nagai Athletic Sports Stadium, passes through the picturesque Osaka Castle Park, and then follows a circular course past Osaka Municipal Hall and Midosuji Boulevard, back through the park to finish at the stadium where the race began.

Every year around 500 of the top runners from Japan and abroad hit the streets of Osaka to mark the beginning of the New Year with the Osaka Ladies' Marathon. In celebration of the New Year, the marathon is firmly established as a women's race of international renown. Top runners from both Japan and abroad compete in this international marathon race.

The Osaka International Ladies Marathon is one of the leading women's marathons in the world, together with the Tokyo International Women's Marathon held in November.

Both marathons are international competitions and are participated by top runners from both Japan and abroad. Since the course laid out in Osaka is comparatively flat, it is said that it is possible to make good time in Osaka.
