Osaka Prefecture is Different From Osaka

A prefecture in Japan would be a governmental body bigger than villages, towns or cities. Osaka Prefecture is one of these and the city of Osaka is located within that prefecture as its capital.

Osaka Bay is located on the western side of Osaka City. Osaka City is 12% bigger than any other city within Osaka Prefecture. Manufacturing, services and commerce dominate the industries found within Osaka City. Japanese commerce has historically been centered around Osaka City, which also has a reputation as the food capital of Japan. Kabuki and bunraku theatre are also popular entertainment forms in Osaka City.
