It nestles near the Ikegami- Sone Ruins; one of the largest archaeological sites related to the Yayoi culture, the Osaka Prefectural Museum brings you some of the finest works in contemporary art.

Using historic materials gathered from all over Japan, reproductions of ancient objects and the latest audiovisual equipment, the museum introduces the visitor to Japanese culture during the Yayoi Period (from around the 3rd- 4th century B.C. to around the 3rd century A.D.). The Museum exhibits documents, relics, film and other materials that recreate the life of Yayoi Japan. In the first large exhibition room is an anthropologically restored model of the palace of Queen Himiko.

A second large exhibit space displays the history of the Senshu district from the primitive Johmon period until the Edo era of the 17th to 19th centuries. Among the other special features of the Museum is a film equipment room and information corner.

Among the museum's interesting exhibits are a model of the palace of Himiko, the Queen of Yamataikoku, and a reproduction of a rice field that depicts realistic scenes of planting and harvesting, based on the results of archaeological and folkloric studies.

Hours: Tue- Sun; 10a.m- 5p.m.
